Labor day 2010

I was anxious to know father’s blood sugar levels and called home immediately after I got up. It was a great relief to know that Achan’s blood sugar levels have come down. Sita and I Spoke to Chittibava and greeted him on his 60th Birthday.

Sweta wanted to go run with her friend Kirsten today and so I conveniently skipped my morning workout session, so that I can also jog while they are running. Got the lawn mowing finished (left over work from yesterday!), and then picked up Kirsten at her home and went to Noel Ridge park. Kids were running their usual track while I jogged around the trail for two rounds. Later we stopped at Hy-vee and got the lunch stuff (a couple of Portobello mushrooms, burger patties and a box of frozen Veggie patties for Sweta). She wanted to invite her freind's for a long time and she was very happy that we could do it before the summer is over.

I grilled the burgers and the Portobello and kids had their lunch at the patio. McKenna also joined the fun right before lunch. Later kids went out for a bike ride, while I took a nap. I didn’t even know when their mom’s came to pick them up. Finally Sweta kicked me out of the bed to take her to the dance class. After coming back, had our dinner and then Sita, Sweta and I went again for a bike-ride in the neighborhood. After coming back, I spent some time reading Sujith’s blog (http://sujith-politics.blogspot.com) and redoing the evite for Onam get-together in Cedar Rapids on 18th September. Looks like only few people got to see it.
Overall, this Labor Day was very relaxing.

Time to get back into action!

It is time to get back into blogging..Today Sweta also opened an account. This labor day weekend is pretty quiet and good family time. Yesterday we got up and rode our bicycles to downtown Farmers market! It was pretty chilly when we started (48 degrees), but we were all warmed up by the time we rode 5 miles. Sanjay, Sweta and I had a good time strolling through the market. CR bicycle parking spot was quite nice. Sweta enjoyed her pancakes while Sanjay and I enjoyed our breakfast burritos. Today, it was pretty much cleaning the garage and mowing the lawn. I did not get to complete the lawn yet. In between we had a shopping trip to get the groceries.

Yesterday while talking to Sujith, I mentioned about the farmer’s market and he was very surprised to hear that farmer’s markets are quite common here. I also told him about the community farming that is becoming more and more popular. I will have to send him some pictures and links to the farmer’s market concept. So I will include a link for his reading pleasure.

Going to India

This year's vacation to India is finally sinking in me. Most of the back up plans at work are taken care and now need to focus on packing and planning some nuances. This morning I helped Sita packing and most of the bags are ready to go.

Meanwhile, I am eagerly waiting for Sanjay's South Africa trip updates. I am glad to see one tweet from him.
